What it is on the floor
A narrow hall or a spare bedroom often needs hanging room that changes with the season. We build this rack in bright chrome, with extending rods for extra coats and a wide base that holds storage bins off the floor. When the run of guests leaves, the whole frame collapses flat.
Telescoping hanging rods
Both upper rods pull outward to take more hangers when winter woolens come out of storage. You can set the rods at different heights so long overcoats hang clear on one side while shirts and jackets share the other.
Space between rails
We leave generous breathing room between the parallel hanging lines. Thick down parkas and bulky suits hang side by side without pressing against each other, so nothing snags as you pull a morning layer from the middle.
Base shelf and side loops
The low steel platform catches luggage, shoe crates, or folded quilts beneath your hanging clothes. Small side loops give hats, belts, and canvas tote bags a dedicated place to hang instead of piling up on nearby furniture.
Folding frame on wheels
Rubber casters roll smoothly across bare flooring and thresholds, then lock when the rack is parked against a wall. The steel uprights collapse flat without unfastening hardware, making moving day simple and storage between uses quick.
