What it is on the floor
Some bedrooms have no closet at all, while others have one that fills up by mid autumn. We build this rack in black steel to take on full loads of heavy outerwear, denim, and laundry baskets. The hanging rod pulls out sideways for extra width, and the wheels roll across floorboards without drama.
Telescoping hanging rod
Pull the top rail out when heavy coats arrive, then slide it narrow again when summer shirts go up. The ends give you extra hanging width without demanding more floor space from your room.
Height adjustments
Raise the uprights when long dresses and overcoats need clearance off the floor, or drop them down for shirts and jackets. The adjustment pins lock into the steel tubing so the frame stays level.
Locking casters
Roll a full load of wet laundry from the washer to a sunny bedroom window. Once the rack is where you want it, step down on the wheel locks to keep the base planted.
Bottom shelf and hooks
Side hooks catch work bags, belts, and caps before they hit the floor. Down below, the base shelf holds storage bins or shoe boxes right off the rug.
